RULES FOR THE 2008 SHOW - read carefully before filling in the entry form.

This Schedule and Prize List is issued subject to any order that may be passed or made by the Ministry of Agriculture or North Yorkshire County Council.

1. Association’s prizes are open to all persons except where otherwise specified. No stock debarred for having won Premiums at former shows except where specified.

2. Schedules and entry forms may be obtained from the Secretary. All entries and entry fees to be sent to the appropriate Secretary on or before Wednesday 30th July. The Association accepts no liability for postal or other delays. No stock to be admitted to the Show Field without a Ticket from the Secretary, and no Entry Cards will be sent to anyone who has not paid Entrance Money by the closing date.

3. All entries to be shown in the Catalogue, except for Riding and Jumping Section 20 and the Dog Show. The Association will make every effort to ensure accuracy but will not accept no legal liability for any error or omission in the Schedule or Catalogue.

4. Entrance Fees chargeable as shown in the schedule. Entrance money once paid shall not be returned. An Exhibitor paying £3 or more in the entrance fees will receive ONE exhibitors ticket which admits the holder to the showfield. All Exhibitors of large livestock will receive one free parking ticket for van/trailer.

5. Every Subscriber of £15.00 shall be deemed a patron for the current show, and receive a badge admitting the 2 adults and 2 children, plus a Showfield Car Park sticker.

6. Admission to the field £5.00 each, Children under 5 free, 5 to 16 £2, Senior Citizens £3.00.Exhibitors may park on the Show Field for £1.00 if tickets are requested and paid for on entry form. Otherwise Show Field parking tickets £2.00 each. Limited number at Ringside £4.00 each. Free car parking provided adjacent to the Show Field.

7. Stock of every description (except horses for jumping classes) should be in the Show Field by 9.30 a.m. on the day of the show, and to remain on the ground allotted to them until 4-00pm, except by special permission of the committee. Horses for Jumping Classes to be on the Show Field by 12.30 p.m. Entries in The Marquees to be in place by 10.00 a.m. and remain until 4.30 p.m. except by permission of the Stewards.

8. All disputes to be decided by the Committee, and not subject to any proceedings at law. Objections must be given in writing to the Secretary within one hour of the Judge’s decision. The sum of £10.00 to be deposited with the Secretary, which sum shall be forfeited if the objection were deemed frivolous, but returned if the objection is sustained. Any expense incurred must be paid by the person against whom the Committee gave their decision.

9. The Association will take all reasonable practicable measures to ensure the safety of the public, exhibitors and livestock. Exhibitors, vendors and the public are also required to cooperate in ensuring the safety of themselves and others. They must comply with appropriate instructions issued by the officers of the Association or the Stewards on the Show Field. Riders must wear approved protective headgear. Exhibitors and vendors must have public liability insurance available for inspection.

10. The objective of the Association in giving Premiums for Cattle and Sheep is to promote improvement in Breeding Stock. The Judges will therefore be instructed to decide simply according to age and relative merits for breeding purposes of Animals exhibited, and not to take into consideration the present value to the butcher. (Except sect. 3 and 5). They should give preference, other things being equal, to the animal which shows no signs of extra feeding.

11. All exhibits to be the bonafide property of the Exhibitor except where specified. No exhibit to be entitled to Premium if thought unworthy by the Judges. In a class with 3 entries or fewer, prizes are awarded at the Judge’s discretion.

12. The Association can not be held responsible for any article lost or stolen. Exhibitors are responsible for the safety of their own exhibits.

13. Any Exhibitor attempting to influence the Association or its Judges, on the field or in connection with their decision, to forfeit all premiums and be expelled from the Association at the pleasure of managing committee. All forfeited Premiums to return to the Funds of the Association.

14. All prize money not collected from the Secretary within 7 days of the Show will be paid into show funds.

The winners’ full names and addresses will be entered in the Register of Trophies. All trophies to be returned one month before the next show morning.
