PRIZE LIST 2011

 

Rosettes to be awarded in all sections for cattle, sheep, horses, sheep-dogs, dog show & vintage machinery.

 

SECTION 1 - All livestock to remain on the show field until 4.00pm.

DAIRY CATTLE

Accredited cattle only

EBL ATTESTED CATTLE

Separate off loading positions and separate standing will be provided for EBL Attested Cattle. Exhibitors must indicate on the entry form if they intend to exhibit Attested Cattle. Cattle may only enter the EBL area if accompanied by a copy of the current Herd Certificate of Status. (CH103)

 

BRUCELLOSIS (ENGLAND AND WALES) ORDER 1981

The Association intends to provide conditions in the judging and standing areas which will comply with this order. In the event of any unexpected incident with an animal the owner must make his own arrangements to segregate and remove the animal and ensure the order is satisfied. OBF cattle only can be entered.

 

Prize Money : First £20, Second £15, Third £10. Entry Fee : £2

A Rosette will be awarded to the champion of each breed.

Class

1. Cow in Milk – Any Breed

£5 towards the prize money in Class 1 is given by Messrs. RICHARDSON & SMITH, Auctioneers, Whitby

2. Cow in Calf – Any Breed

3. Heifer in Milk with first calf – Any Breed

4. Heifer in Calf – Any Breed

5. Heifer with all calf teeth – Any Breed

6. SPECIAL PRIZE of £10 for best group of Cattle. The Group to be three females.

 

 

The J. GILL MEMORIAL CUP will be awarded to the winning group of 3 Ayrshires. Cup to be held for one year.

 

The “STRUTHERS CUP” will be awarded for the Champion Ayrshire, the cup to be held for one year, This cup was originally owned by the Cleveland Agricultural society and was donated to the Danby Agricultural Association in 1981.

 

The MACDONALD CHALLENGE CUP, presented by the late N. MACDONALD Esq., M.R.C.V.S., will be awarded for the best Holstein Friesian Heifer in milk

 

The “MOORLODGE TROPHY” will be awarded to the Champion Holstein Friesian. Trophy to be held for one year.

 

A trophy will be awarded for the Champion in the Dairy Section

 

SECTION 2 - All livestock to remain on the show field until 4.00pm

CALVES

 

Prize money: First £8, Second £6, Third £4. Entry fee: 80p

Class

7. Best Dairy Heifer Calf, under 6 months.

8. Beef Calf, under 6 months.

9. Beef Calf over 3 months and under 6 months, to be shown in the ring by a Boy or Girl under 12 years of age.

As marks awarded will be 50/50 for the Calf and the way it is groomed and shown, it is not

necessary that it is the property of the exhibitor.

10. Dairy Calf under 3 months, to be shown in the ring by a Boy or Girl under 12 years of age.

All non-prizewinners in classes 9 and 10 to receive 50p and a Rosette.

 

SPECIAL PRIZE of £5 donated by W.H. TINDALL ESQ., Danby, for Champion in Calf Section. Rosette will be awarded.

 

SPECIAL PRIZE of £3 donated by J. B. THOMPSON ESQ., Glaisdale, for Reserve Champion in calf section.

 

SPECIAL PRIZE of £5 each for best handler in Classes 9 & 10. Special Rosette will also be awarded.

BEEF CATTLE

 

Prize Money: First £20, Second £15, Third £10. Entry Fee: £2.00.

Class

11. Best Butchers Beast, Any Breed, Heifer.

12. Best Butchers Beast, Any Breed, Bullock.

 

The A. & J. MAW Trophy, donated by MR. & MRS. A. MAW will be awarded for the best exhibition in Classes 11 & 12. Trophy to be held for one year.

 

£20 towards prize money in Beef Cattle Section is kindly donated by B.A.T.A

 

 

SECTION 4 - All livestock to remain on the show field until 4.00pm.

HIGHLAND CATTLE

 

Prize Money: First £20, Second £15, Third £10. Entry Fee: £2.00.

13. Highland Cattle – Female born 2010 onwards

14. Highland Cattle – Female born in 2009

15. Highland Cattle – Female born before 2009

16. Highland Cattle – Any Male

17. Highland Cattle – Any Pair

 

A trophy will be awarded for the Champion Highland. Kindly donated by MR. N.W. PEARSON, Westerdale.

 

A Trophy will be awarded for the Best Pair of Highland Cattle.

 

A SPECIAL PRIZE of £20 will be awarded to the Champion in the Highland section, kindly donated by the FOX AND HOUNDS, AINTHORPE.

 

A prize of £20 will be awarded to the overall Champion in the Dairy, Highland and Beef Sections.

 

SHEEP

A trophy donated by J.W. MUIR Esq., a Rosette and a Special Prize of £10 donated by C. MARKHAM Esq., awarded for SUPREME CHAMPION SHEEP in Sections 5-6, 8-13.

A Special Prize of £5 for RESERVE SUPREME CHAMPION SHEEP.

OVERALL CHAMPION TO BE JUDGED AT 2.00 p.m.

 

A Rosette will be awarded for the Champion in each Section.

A trophy will be awarded for the Champion Suffolk.

A SILVER CHALLENGE CUP presented by the late F. BOOCOCK Esq., will be awarded for the best group. Trophy to be held for one year.

 

A ROSE BOWL presented by J. W. STANGOE Esq., of Glaisdale, to be awarded for the best Scotch Sheep in the show. Trophy to be held for one year.

 

The ROBERT FLINTOFT MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded for the best Scotch Lamb in the show. Trophy to be held for one year.

The G. T. MORTIMER MEMORIAL TROPHY, presented by the Show Committee in memory of the late G. T. MORTIMER J. P., will be awarded to the competitor who gains the most points in the Texel Section. Points awarded: First 3 points, Second 2 points, Third 1 point. Trophy to be held for one year.

 

The JOHN & PHYLLIS RUDSDALE TROPHY presented for the best Texel in Danby Show.

 

SECTION 14

Pet Lamb Classes.
